STEFANO Hunt has attracted plenty of attention in recent times, both for his own talent and potential and because of a famous relative.
The teenager, of Samoan ancestry, is a first cousin of rugby league/rugby/AFL player Karmichael but, unlike his code-hopping kin, Stef is a rugby man.
From the famed rugby nursery of Nudgee College in Brisbane, where he played alongside Wallaby James O’Connor, Hunt has quick feet to the point that tackling him has been compared to ‘trying to tackle smoke’.
The likeable teenager, whose name is pronounced STEF-ano, is a two-time Australian Schools representative and will now have the opportunity to learn from the likes of Andre Pretorius, Sam Harris, Mark Bartholomeusz and his friend O’Connor.
Hunt sports a tattoo on his arm with the family name in it, which was done when he was 15. At the request of his father, the markings were made in the traditional Samoan ‘tapping’ style and Stef shared the pain with his sister, Theresa, who also has a tattoo.
