The DB Lunge is a great functional exercise for lower body strength development, balance and proprioception.
Adding a 10-15kg single dumbbell held overhead increases the intensity of the exercise with a significant focus on core and shoulder stability whilst completing the lunge portion of the drill. The exercise is usually performed as a warm up to activate the gluts, core and lower limbs in preparation for larger exercise loads such as heavy squats & Dead lifts.
