History
Rugby in Western Australia has a history dating back to 1881, with State sides being selected as long ago as 1906. That first WA squad didn't play any games (as far as we are aware!), but from 1930 our boys have taken part in fixtures against sides varying from HMAS Australia, Ceylon, Petersham (NSW) to the might of the Springboks, All Blacks, Wallabies and even the British and Irish Lions.
RugbyWA is determined to 'fill in the blanks' in regard to our representative sides. The attachments linked below have our best efforts at compiling definitive records of the history of our WA sides, but we know there is more information to be gathered before it can be considered comprehensive.
We need your help!
If you think you have a good grasp on WA rugby history, or if you know an ex-representative player, please peruse the lists below to see if you think any names are missing.
If you spot any gaps that you can fill, or perhaps any errors, please contact Wendy Hickman at wendy.hickman@rugbywa.com.au or on 9387 0702 and help us recognise the rugby trailblazers in WA.
